I have always been interested in people and intrigued by the vastly different ways we each understand and experience the world, which has led me to study philosophy, history, and many other facets of the human experience. I have been strongly invested in the Church since my teens, when I experienced God and his family as a secure base from which to move into adult life. These two priorities merged into an enduring passion to support others in their journey with God that has moved me into various seasons of church ministry, and overseas missions. When my family and I unexpectedly moved back to Canada in 2020, I began imagining a new phase of my vocation that will begin with my upcoming completion of an MA in Marriage and Family Therapy.
It has been a delightful challenge to integrate all that I have learned about the human experience through psychology and other disciplines with my ever-deepening understanding of the Kingdom of God. I have found walking with him to be the most meaningful experience of my life, and approach my counselling work knowing that God is inviting each of us toward his abundant life.

My therapeutic approach is Person-Centred, I am focused on supporting each person in coming to grips with their own unique experience of the world. Attachment Theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy shape how I understand human emotions and relationships; Existential and Narrative therapy inform how I work with themes of meaning and identity.
I employ a trauma-informed lens to explore how painful experiences often influence our present responses, and I take a body-based approach to supporting the healing of trauma. When working with couples and families, I support clients to take in each others’ perspectives in disarming ways, and name problems in a manner that helps them move toward being on the same team, working toward common goals.

I get excited when someone says to me, “there are a bunch of things I want you to help me sort out.” I love putting my curiosity to work for people who are asking themselves “why do I do that?” or are wanting to get to know themselves better. If you find yourself in a place where your understanding of God and the faith tradition that formed you seem to be making less and less sense in light of many experiences, this is one of my favourite conversations.
My clients say they appreciate my gentle approach, my interesting questions, and the gracious space I open up for them to explore different parts of themselves and their experience. I love imagining new ways to see things, and get excited about new ideas.

I love adventuring with my beloved wife Sarah, and our four kids (2 girls and 2 boys). I enjoy talking about ideas or playing complex board games with friends. I love listening to music, reading and writing stories, walking in the woods, and exploring anything that’s weird, interesting, and impressive.
