Frequently Asked Questions

The inclusion of both therapy and formation means that your therapist integrates both clinical psychology and Christian spirituality to support you in your journey of healing and growth. Your counsellor will come alongside you as you explore your story and experiences. Additionally, we offer you space to understand how your experiences have impacted your walk with God, while also creating opportunities to consider how your life with God can be included and impactful in your counselling work. We work to straddle both worlds, one foot planted firmly in evidence-based, ethical therapeutic practice and the other foot deeply rooted in hope of the transforming work of Christ, the active counsel of the Holy Spirit, and the living word of Scripture.
As with all therapy, your process will be client-led. Your counsellor will offer the use of spiritual reflection, prayer, and Scripture to support your goals and process.

No. While various Biblical Counselling programs are often shorter in length (several months to several years), all of our Counsellors have completed MA level Counselling programs, and are licenced with either provincial (BCACC) or national (CCPA) Counselling Associations. All therapists are also committed to ongoing professional development and education in the field of Counselling Psychology.
While there may be some overlap in foundational Christian values, our approach as counselling therapists tends to be less directive than a biblical counselling approach, in keeping with the ethics of our professional associations. As such, we are generally not actively directive with spiritual advice, but rather come alongside to help the individual in the process of discernment, as aided through personal reflection, prayer, Scripture, and hopefully their own wider faith community.
In addition Biblical Counselling tends to primarily use scripture as the basis of the model. While we hold a high view of Scripture as being the inspired Word of God, we also seek to include and integrate evidence-based psychological frameworks and interventions into our clinical work with clients.

Generally yes. All of our therapists (aside from Graduate Interns and Pre-Registered Counsellors) have an RCC or CCC designation. You can check with your specific insurance provider to ensure coverage and the extent of your coverage. We do not provide direct billing services to insurance providers, but require payment at time of session. You will receive a receipt that can be submitted for reimbursement through your extended health plan.

At this time, we do not have Spiritual Directors on our team. However, there are elements of our process that do align very closely with Spiritual Direction. Helping clients attune to their life with God, to slow down and pause in order to attend to how the Spirit is working, speaking, and guiding in their therapeutic process is a cornerstone of our model.

We value the critical role of the local church in supporting those in crisis and want to come alongside you in this work. We know that at times, external support is needed for specialized care, and we are here to assist in any way we can as you care for your congregation.
