The Intersection of Clinical Therapy and Christian Spiritual Formation

At Selah Therapy we draw from the worlds of therapeutic counselling psychology and Christian Spiritual Formation to help individuals, couples, and families understand and work through barriers to a life of hope, transformation, and healing.

Therapy often operates in a secular context where discussions about God, faith, hope, and redemption have no bearing on the content being worked through in therapy. Likewise, providers of faith-based care (pastoral care, biblical counselling, prayer ministry, spiritual direction) do not always have the training or capacity to deal with complex mental health struggles, relational difficulties, or trauma recovery.

At Selah Therapy we bridge this gap, providing a unique space where therapists and clients draw deeply from the fields of both Counselling Psychology and Christian Spiritual Formation. Our counsellors incorporate evidence-based psychological practice, the wisdom of Christian tradition, and spiritual practices to provide holistic, faith-integrated counselling to individuals, couples, and families.

Our team at Selah Therapy is committed to providing a space where the intersection of clinical therapy and deep spiritual formation come together to bring lasting healing through the work of Christ and power of the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual formation for the Christian basically refers to the Spirit-driven process of forming the inner world of the human self in such a way that it becomes like the inner being of Christ himself.
